When you feel that you are being threatened what do you do? The attack of Pearl Harbor happened at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941. This attack was a turning point because the United States became a big part of the war. The soldiers that were involved were the United States and Japanese soldiers. There were generals from each side that led the attack. The generals from the United States were Husband Kimmel and Walter Short, and the generals from Japan were Chuichi Nagumo and Isoroku Yamamoto. What were the reasons for the attack on Pearl Harbor? Three reasons for the attack on Pearl Harbor are a plan for new world order, U.S. oil embargo, and the U.S. fleet expansion. The first reason for the attack on Pearl Harbor is a plan for a new world order which was redefining which countries have power and which countries have no power. Japan committed to “embrace the whole world” (Doc A). This shows that Japan wants to take over the whole world and control everything. For Japan to be able to do this they would have to attack places. Japan also acted on plan, occupied Manchuria in 1932, attacked China in 1937 (Doc B.). Japan has started to take over the whole world. To be able to get to the Netherland East Indies Japan has to go through the Philippines which is U.S. territory. This shows that if Japan wants to take over the world he will have to attack the U.S. This is one example of why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. The second reason for the attack on Pearl Harbor is the U.S. oil embargo which was where the U.S. stopped trading with other countries. The United States imposed an embargo on oil shipments to Japan in August of 1941 (Doc C). This made Japan think that the United States emplaced this embargo to threaten them. This causes Japan to just get more angry with the United States which made them have the idea of maybe attacking. As shown in Document D, more than 70% of oil Japan received in 1937 was from the United States. This gradually changes, as the chart shows that in 1941, less than 40% of oil Japan received was from the United States. The chart shows that 341 tons of oil dropped after America, throughout time, stopped trading with Japan. This is important because Japan’s military machinery which were worships, airplanes, tanks, and transportation ships used oil. This caused Japan not to be able to use those machinery items because they all needed oil. This embargo is having Japan get one step closer to attacking Pearl Harbor. Lastly, the United States fleet expansion which was the US navy growing. In July 1940 US congress passes Naval Expansion Act which promises to triple fleet size by 1944 (Doc C). This makes Japan nervous about the United States because the navy will be way bigger than Japan’s. Japan got nervous if there was ever a war that they would lose because there navy was so much smaller than the Americans. In Document E it says, “...the expansion of the American fleet, ... I see no end to difficulties…. I fear that we would become a third-class nation after two or three years if we just sat tight” (Doc E). The Japanese were nervous and wanted to remain gaining power in Asia. The Japanese believed Americans stated this to threaten Japan’s growth of power. Japan still wanted to have control and not be told what to do by Americans. Japan didn’t want to be smaller or be controlled by the United States. In conclusion, there are several proven reasons as to why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. The three reasons are plan for new world order, U.S. oil embargo and the U.S. fleet expansion. After the attack on Pearl Harbor the United States did not let Japan into the immigration quota. This caused Japan to get even more aggravated at the United States. The attack on pearl harbor was one of the most devastating in history, and will forever be remembered inside the hearts of everyone.
The three main reasons for this devastating attack was the plan for new world order, along with the U.S oil embargo and the fleet expansion of the United States. These all played a huge role in influencing the Japanese's decision to attack Pearl Harbor
how does that sound?
it needs to be different wording
it is
wait hold on, let me check
Theodore Roosevelt's decision to freeze all japanese assets in America was a huge cause of it. u can say it like that
President Roosevelt had banned all exports of scrap iron, steel and oil to Japan. The reason for the embargo was the Japanese invasion of China. Japan had lost more than 90% of its oil supply. The economic isolation crippled their economy and military.
poor hawaii ;'c
ok.... what about title
