Question

I have been getting quite annoyed lately when I come on to get help. I try tagging people and either they view it and don't say anything or they don't bother to look at it at all. This site is for help not just chatting. Sometimes when others help someone they act rude about it and it isn't that point of this site. I have been trying to get help on a math question for 3 hours now and people have viewed it and not commented someone finally commented 18 mins ago and someone right now. It's okay if you don't know how to help someone but I think you should at least say you don't understand either.

It comes off as rude to me when someone views it and then leaves. It feels like they just don't want to help and the point of this site is to get help.

Well, they may not be able to help because they may not be familiar with what you're asking. If you're in doubt, just tag one of the qualified helpers in the math section.

I look at questions that I am unable to answer all the time. However, I don't write one each one I view "Sorry, I am unable to answer this question."

I have they don't even view it half the time and most of the time there not even doing anything. I completely understand not knowing the answer or what to do but still that doesn't give any excuses to the ones who don't even look example. The qualified helpers . What is the point having having the title of a qualified helper if your not going to attempt to look.

I get being busy this post isn't towards others whom are busy and don't know. It's towards the people who don't attempt to help or look. This site is for help and out of 116 members online not one can help?? that's crazy.

Qualified helpers are the only ones who get paid to answer questions, everyone else is just doing so on their own free time. what types of questions do you post? do you want direct answers or step by step help?

step by step help of course. I want to learn so I don't keep asking the same type of questions. I don't ask unless I really don't know.

ik ik i can't even get on my math...i think if OS made the site little more addicting more people will come...honestly theres not enough people on a day...and everyones on PA bcuz they think it's better so like people can't barely get help anymore...

my advice to you would be to tag people who have titles in that subject, like human calculator, mathlete etc, instead of going by SS alone.

i realized 85% of the user names you hover that says is online it goes to offline...so i think it may be less users on a day then it says it is...

Well, I've never used PA so I don't know how things work there. But go by medal count in that particular subject area. note that some of the higher SS users are going to be busy answering other peoples questions especially those who are QH. usually, the majority of people here specialize in helping in one particular area. I have people tagging me in say "english" or other areas i'm not as strong in lol so I usually jus tag someone whom i feel could give better help. but i think if you really can't get an answer and you need it badly a last resort would be to purchase owl bucks and ask the QH directly.

I guess everyone has there own opinion on it. I just feel that not enough people are doing what the sites purpose is for. to help others.

Suggestion to your feedback: How about if some goes on your problem, and doesn't understand, they just pm you saying they have no clue? I do it all the time to people who ask me for help, and I got no clue.

I feel OS should have more of a break down of different subtopics in math and other topics on a users' smart score chart. For instance how many medals earned in a calculus, algebra, geometry.

subtopics in math r dead tbh, but like i said half of friends i use to have on OS isn't on here anymore and is on PA...so like OS is dead....i mean i even posted a simple question id didn't get help for hours -.- i been tryna say os needs 2 step it's game but no one listens to meh :(

I can understand about getting annoyed buts its about how we view it. For me, I don't answer a question if I don't know the answer or how to solve it. I feel its a waste of time telling the person I don't know how to answer it, and getting there hopes up.

If everyone who doesn't know the answer to your question decides to just comment saying 'idk' then that will spam your post.

No one here gets paid to help you. Sure, Qualified Helpers get paid, but they get paid in OwlBucks, and currently there is no way to turn OwlBucks into money.

No one here is compelled to help others either. They help because they have a passion for helping/teaching, or because they really want a higher SmartScore.
