Does the recoil of a semi-automatic action hand gun automatically reload to the next bullet?

it's not a test or anything, just curious due to I want to be a cop and the Semi-Automatic action hand gun is the gun that cops carry around.

Ah I found my answer :D
You pull the recoil back to get the first round into the barrel, then after fired the pressure from the fired bullet pushes back the recoil allowing the next bullet to get into the barrel.
