The first one, how do I find the area ?

For the first shape, draw a line from the 5cm to the 12cm line to complete the square shape. Then you will be able to do the area of the square plus the area of a triangle. THen add those areas and that is ur answer!

See, I did get 40 for the rectangle but what do I do with the rest of the figure? How are you dividing it? Maybe I'm dividing it wrong.
