Need help finding the horizontal asymtote, will medal!!!! x^2 --------------- x^2 + x - 6 I understood that the VA is x = 2,3, but why is the HA y = 1?! Any ideas?

OpenStudy (bmk614):

3-2=1

OpenStudy (umulas):

woah, you're telling me you can find the HA by the VA?

OpenStudy (bmk614):

No I was just kidding.

OpenStudy (bmk614):

You just divide the leading coefficient of the numerator by the leading coefficient of the denominator, which is 1/1=1

OpenStudy (umulas):

And if the numerator coefficient is bigger than teh denominator, than the HA (y) = 0 correct?

OpenStudy (umulas):

So in a case such as x^3 ------- x^4 - 256 The HA would be 0 since 4 > 3
