@welshfella
OpenStudy (daniellelovee):
f(5)=75 so you have to find what is the function
OpenStudy (daniellelovee):
and then once you find that you just multiply that value by 4 and you get your answer :)
OpenStudy (devonhoward15):
does f=15?

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):
yes
OpenStudy (devonhoward15):
so 15x4=60 but thats not an anwser
OpenStudy (welshfella):
f(x) = kx^2 where k is a constant
plug in x = 5 and f(x) = 75 to find k
OpenStudy (daniellelovee):
wait sorry I got confused I didn't read the x^2 part hold on thats different
OpenStudy (devonhoward15):
ok

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):
f(x) = k*x^2
75 = k*(5)^2
75 = k*25
and then use PEMDAS backwards to find k
OpenStudy (welshfella):
to find k divide both sides by 25
OpenStudy (daniellelovee):
lol yes i said to use PEMDAS backwards
OpenStudy (devonhoward15):
im so confused lol
OpenStudy (daniellelovee):
what are you confused about? if you tell me I can help

OpenStudy (daniellelovee):
we just have to fin the value of k first to the place into a new equation :) and then just use 4 into the equation and you get your answer :)
OpenStudy (welshfella):
25k = 75
25k 75
--- = --
25 25
/
what is 75 / 25
OpenStudy (devonhoward15):
is it 48?
OpenStudy (daniellelovee):
yes^ that is the correct final answer
OpenStudy (devonhoward15):
anwser is 48?

OpenStudy (welshfella):
how did you get it?
OpenStudy (daniellelovee):
yes :) after you plug in the 4 into the final equation you get 48
the final equation if 3x^4=3(4)^2=48 so you are correct :)
OpenStudy (devonhoward15):
i put it a mathway calculator
OpenStudy (welshfella):
lol
OpenStudy (devonhoward15):
haha

lol nah you looked it up mathway doesn't answer like that with word in problems
OpenStudy (daniellelovee):
but is ok we all have done that at some point in life :)
OpenStudy (welshfella):
thats not really the way to learn math!
OpenStudy (daniellelovee):
well if he saw the steps then he understood the process, people learn in different ways
