|dw:1461364904679:dw| Use Pythagorean Theorem \(\Large\bf x^2 + x^2 = 82^2\) And solve for x

OpenStudy (atrineas):

How?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

It's right triangle

OpenStudy (atrineas):

ok...

OpenStudy (atrineas):

But how do you solve for x?

OpenStudy (atrineas):

Some steps plz

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

x^2 + x^2 = 82^2 2x^2 = 82^2 What is 82 * 82 = ?

OpenStudy (atrineas):

6,724

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

or without this product make squareroote from both sides and will get xsqrt2 =82 x=82/sqrt2 x=sqrt2*82/2 x= 41sqrt2

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

2x^2 = 6724 Divide 2 on both sides, what do you get? Btw, Jhonyy did it another method. I thought this method would be easier for you to comprehend since not everyone memorizes the ratio of sides in special triangles. :)

OpenStudy (atrineas):

x^2=3,362

OpenStudy (atrineas):

I didn't understand johnys... so thanks

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

now, use a calculator and find the square root of 3362

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Jhonny used this: |dw:1461365961856:dw|
