What would you recommend a new student completing research do in order to properly prepare for a paper requiring documented source material?

OpenStudy (scooby6363):

The first time me and my class did a full on research paper there were three reasons why many got bad grades. The first reason was because of how they failed to properly find reliable sites and ended up giving false information. The second reason was because they failed to make a proper citation, they are way harder than you think. The third reason was that they only used websites with the same domain name. One person documented 8 sources but they were all BBC news, and news websites are especially biased towards a certain political party. You can probably incorporate everything I said above into your question on what advice you would give a student making a research paper. You could also say that they really want to look for some good statistics that can help their point, statistics are straight up facts and are great for pulling your point across in a research paper. A few quotes from reliable sources are also pretty good to include in a research paper as they are the opinions of people deemed as intellectuals whom support the point you are attempting to make in the research paper.
