well if you listen to hip hop artists like nick jonas, demi lovato, DNCE and ..., you will notice that they all use electric guitar, it just makes the song sound more entertaining unless you want your song to sound more melodic and calm, electric guitar makes it sound more rad which makes people get in a dancing/partying mood.
