Triangles are similar if the corresponding angles in both triangles are congruent. If the corresponding sides are the same then the similar triangles are actually congruent. If there is a scale factor for the sides other than 1 though, then the similar triangles are not congruent. Another hint: A pair of vertical angles are congruent.
