We can categorize the software in two parts namely;
1.System software and
2.Application Software
Best example of system software is the operation systems like ms-dos and windows xp,7 etc which helps to acts an interface between the user and the computer hardware.

Application software are the programs that are written (developed) to perform some specific task or action for its user.The best examples or application software is the web browsers, music players, word processors etc.
