i have one last question taking me forever to complete can i get help? i have class soon and i need to do this before then
to graph a line, we just need to somehow find to points that lie on the line, the graph is the line that connects the two points
lets first do a= 1/2 b + 5
set a=0 and solve for b what do you get?
i dont know
oh wait you get b=-10 @baru
yes so when a=0 we get b=-10 so (a,b) = (0, -10) is a point on the line now do b=0 and find another point on the line
you get a=5
@baru
yes, so that means when b=0 we get a=5 so (a,b)=(5,0) is a point on the line so plot the points (0,-10) and (5,0) connect them with a straight line. that is the graph of the first line.
follow the exact same procedure with the equation of the second line.
but how would i do a-2b=2 isnt it 0-2b=2? thats odd
0-2b=2 -2b=2 b=-1 do understands the steps i carried out?
yes so it would be (0-1)?
correct! :) so now try finding the other point
isnt it a-2(0)=2 i dont know how i think its still 2 or (0,2)??
yes, a=2 so the point is (2,0) not (0,2) it has to be in the order (a,b) when b=0 we get a=2 so (2,0)
what would be the other point??
you just found (0,-1) now we have (2,0) plot them and connect them
how do i find the solution?
the two lines you plotted will meet at one point. the co-ordinates for that point is the solution. for example, if they intersect at (8,9) then a=8 and b=9 is the solution.
i dont know where the intersect i think its (6,2)
that is correct :) so the solution is a=6 and b=2
thank you and i have given you a medal for getting me through this u have no idea how important this class is for me
your welcome :D
