Compare y = (1/5)x to y = mx + b. What is the slope of the given line? What is the y-intercept of the given line?
The y-intercept occurs when x = 0 and the graph is attached.
What does slope mean? You'll start at the origin, (0,0), move 5 scale divisions to the right, and then 1 up, to obtain the point (5,1). Draw a line connecting the origin (0,0) with this point (5, 1). This line will have a slope of what value?
Are you taking notes on your work on OpenStudy? Others and I have worked with you numerous times on graphing lines with given slopes. Slope= (rise) / (run) so if slope is (1/5), the rise is 1 and the run is 5. Try graphing this. Again: Start at the y-intercept, which happens to be (0,0) in this problem.
