Triangle XYZ is similar to triangle XꞌꞌYꞌꞌZꞌꞌ. Which two transformations were performed on triangle XYZ to produce triangle XꞌꞌYꞌꞌZꞌꞌ? Choose exactly two answers that are correct. A. Triangle XYZ was dilated by a scale factor of 1/3 to produce triangle XꞌYꞌZꞌ. B. Triangle XYZ was translated 3 units up to produce triangle XꞌYꞌZꞌ. C. Triangle XꞌYꞌZꞌ was translated 4 units down and 4 units left to produce triangle XꞌꞌYꞌꞌZꞌꞌ. D. Triangle XꞌYꞌZꞌ was dilated by a scale factor of 3 to produce triangle XꞌꞌYꞌꞌZꞌꞌ it dosent look translated to me but it says choose 2
Can you retype choice A cause its says it was dilated but doesn't state by what.
We first would need to determine one length of the original and one length of the image....so we choose two points to determine the distance between...lets use XY so we would use the distance formula to find the distance of the original... \(\huge{d=\sqrt{(-3 - (-6))^{2}+(-9 - (-3))^{2}}}\)
it's A and D because they have to be congruent to be similar and they cant be similar if they're the same shape, but not the same SIZE. dilation makes them different sizes. also I had a similar question the other day and got it right lol
@pugtato explained it quite well ^^ guess wasnt really needed at all :P
but @563blackghost should walk you through only if you need it, just so that you could better understand the concept.
im back, thanks guys!
