A pair of equations is shown below: y = 3x – 5 y = 6x – 8 Part A: Explain how you will solve the pair of equations by substitution or elimination. Show all the steps and write the solution. Part B: If the two equations are graphed, at what point will the lines representing the two equations intersect? Explain your answer.

Try using a system of equations.
i just need help wit part b
y = y 3x-5 = 6x-8 -5 = 6x - 3x - 8 -5 = 3x -8 8-5 = 3x 3 = 3x x = 3/3 = 1 this is what i got for part a
If the system has a single solution, that solution is an (x,y) pair that makes both equations true. Thus, that point, (x,y) is on BOTH lines. So that POINT is the point of intersection.
You only solved for the x.... now substitute that back in to one of the equations, and solve for y.
someone helped me with that they just explained to me and told me to put that
Huh? Told you to put what?
that answer for part A
Do you understand it?
That answer is not finished. You have not SOLVED the system. You are only part done - you have only found x. Solving a system of 2 equations in 2 unknowns means to find both unknowns. x and y
