Suppose your roof is 27 feet above the ground at its peak and only 22 feet above the ground at the front of the house. How far does it rise?

Welcome to Open Study, what does your question refer to in terms of rising? The house? It would simply rise 5 feet from the front of the house to the peak.
and how did you get that 5
27-22
27 feet at the peak, and 22 feet at the front. 27 - 22 = 5 feet difference.
