So lets say Jane get paid $15 per/hour. The amount of work output Jane does should exceed the amount she is working for, therefore if Jane boss knows some basic economic, the benefit of having Jane as a employee will exceed the cost of paying for Jane's wage. Thus when Jane's boss finally does a employee review and see all the hard work she has done. Jane will surely be able to bargain for a higher wage, salary, or bonuses. If not, just be a good and efficient employee. Not all goods deeds will be notice, but some will. :)
