Axis of symmetry help

OpenStudy (samigupta8):

Can anyone pls explain how to see the axis of symmetry in a molecule? Like we have diad, triad and so on.. @parthkohli

Parth (parthkohli):

Well, what's hard about it?

OpenStudy (samigupta8):

I didn't get it from the start. How do you have to make a picture of it in your mind that if we rotate the molecule by 60° we get identical molecule. Or like wise.!

Parth (parthkohli):

Or you could try to rotate it completely and count the number of times it's identical to the original.

Parth (parthkohli):

IDK, just imagine it and stuff. Are you doing this for organic?

OpenStudy (samigupta8):

How can you be so easy with it? I don't understand it.. Yep, for organic only.

Parth (parthkohli):

Kainui gave this to me. http://symmetry.otterbein.edu/gallery/index.html

OpenStudy (samigupta8):

What is this ?? Whensoever i try to open it , first it says Jmol is loading and then it says select a molecule or so. I am sick of it, even they don't give us an option to go for selecting the molecule.

Parth (parthkohli):

It's working for me.

OpenStudy (samigupta8):

It loaded now.. Thanks..i will have a look at it .If i don't get it , i will ask you again about the same. Lol.
