OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

doubt of exponents

OpenStudy (dayakar):

?????????????????????

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

its very basic, I just need to polish myself. I am forgetting rules of exponents, please help me remind this one and also show me how

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

the red part

hartnn (hartnn):

squaring both sides raises the exponent on both sides by 2. cubing both sides raises the exponent on both sides by 3. Raising both sides by exponent = x \(A=B \implies A^x= B^x \)

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

is there some kind of explanation or its just a rule?

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

oh

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

yes

hartnn (hartnn):

\(a^{1/x} = b^{1/y}\) raising both sides by exponent x

hartnn (hartnn):

\((a^{1/x})^x = (b^{1/y})^x\) 1/x*x = 1

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

oh a^1=b^x/y

hartnn (hartnn):

yes

OpenStudy (arindameducationusc):

Thanks @hartnn I got it

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^
