I've always written short stories so I thought I'd give poetry a try.
First attempt so please be kind.
Here goes:

Cat and mouse
Cat and mouse
Around the little house

I wait
And wait
Until finally I pounce.

The patience strains
And there's always rain

Maybe we'll be together
If only in vain
