OpenStudy (mathmath333):

i think option b.) is correct

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

@reemii

Directrix (directrix):

II. The Government initiates an inquiry into tiger population in the state. I. tiger reserve population is one of the tiger population centers and was found to have declined overt the last census.

Directrix (directrix):

Option B

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

but book says option a.) is correct

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

@Directrix

OpenStudy (anonymouse2015):

a

Directrix (directrix):

If II had said that the Government was enquiring into populations of tiger preserves, then I would have selected A. As it stands, the Goverment said it was looking into populations in the state. Tiger preserves are one type of tiger populations in the state. If preserves are the only place where tigers are held in captitvity, then I would agree with !.!!, which is A

Directrix (directrix):

@Anonymouse2015 What is your reasoning for selecting option A? I am having a hard time with these.

OpenStudy (anonymouse2015):

i cant remember how i reasoned it hahaha, i kinda just read it through and did a process of elimination

Directrix (directrix):

@jhonyy9

Directrix (directrix):

@mathmath333 Don't post the answer from your book for these problems until the very end of the thread.

OpenStudy (reemii):

yeah, if the "recent census" is not from the government, then the gvt want to ascertain the facts reporter by this census. Like: gvt-guy: "I read this report, hm the population is decreasing…" other-guy: "okay let's initiate an enquiry to acertain this information.." (reaction = effect)

OpenStudy (reemii):

reported*

Directrix (directrix):

@Anonymouse2015 Would you describe how you eliminated options? Thanks.

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

reemi answer make sense

OpenStudy (anonymouse2015):

yeah

OpenStudy (reemii):

because i know the answer is A. it's probably easy to come up with stories for other possibilities :P Such problems can give several interpretations in my opinion.. (sometimes, or is it just me)

OpenStudy (anonymouse2015):

@reemii yeah

Directrix (directrix):

How do we know that the Government does not run regular checks on tiger populations? So somebody goes over to this tiger preserve, takes a count, and finds a big reduction from the previous count. That is why I went with B: II. The Government initiates an inquiry into tiger population in the state. I. tiger reserve population is one of the tiger population centers and was found to have declined overt the last census. @reemii I agree. With the answer know before working on the problem, it it easy to give a scenario supporting the answer.

OpenStudy (reemii):

the "recent census" might be done by the government. so it's the other way around as you said: they run regular checks, and their latest census tells that there is a reduction...

OpenStudy (reemii):

At least the book answer has its own logical story..

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

@Directrix @mathmath333 without we know the right answer what say the book than you reread the text of this logic exercise so these two statements - you can asking what result from what - so what can being the cause and what will be the effect resulted from this cause - so than we try understanding and answering ,selecting from these choices the right so my opinion agree with answer given the book - bc. the first statement - i think - not can resulting from second just vice-versa from first can resulting the second so the first is the cause and second is the effect - hope this my opinion about is understandably and will help you

OpenStudy (mathmath333):

i post new que please help me their
