An earth satellite is revolving in a circular orbit of radius a with muzzle velocity vo.A gun in the satellite is directly aimed towards earth.A bullet is fired from the gun with muzzle velocity vo/2.Find the ratio of distance of farthest and closest approach of bullet from centre of earth.
Is this the whole question? I don't think I grok what they're asking for since the information given doesn't mesh with what I think they're asking.
This is the exact question . They have given one thing extra which is consider that mass of satellite is very large than mass of bullet.
i think the mass assumption thing is so you don't get caught up in momentum conservation stuff attached is the best solution i can think off. makes sense, but it busts Wolfram
