Can anyone help me understand this question? Will fan and medal..

OpenStudy (angiedoesschool2275):

Which statement best explains whether y = 4x + 8 is a linear function or a nonlinear function? A: t is a linear function because the graph contains the points (8, 0), (12, 1), (16, 2), which are on a straight line. B: It is a nonlinear function because the graph contains the points (8, 0), (12, 1), (16, 2), which are not on a straight line. C: It is a linear function because the graph contains the points (0, 8), (1, 12), (2, 16), which are on a straight line. D:It is a nonlinear function because the graph contains the points (0, 8), (1, 12), (2, 16), which are not on a straight line.

OpenStudy (angiedoesschool2275):

So confused on what to do x.x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is a linear function because it fits the general form of a line, y = m x + b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept.

OpenStudy (angiedoesschool2275):

So, it would be considered C?

OpenStudy (angiedoesschool2275):

I used the process of elimination and the first one i crossed of was A so, considering it IS a linear function, the only choice left is C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C. works.

Thank you so much :)
