So you have a base amount of villagers. Think of this equation like that one problem that you did yesterday to find the sum of a sequence.
S = 8(1/2)^x
Here, we have villagers(growthratio)^villages
Where the increased amount of villages increases the growth ratio, hence the villagers increase as well.
