OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

Should Open Study punish only certain individuals based on their reputation for committing an act that violates the TOU and COC over a person who does it less often?

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

@Mehek14 @Ms-Brains @Mahoganie.Carson @Matt6288 @rebeccaxhawaii @Nnesha @Whitemonsterbunny17 @Wolfboy @reemii @Smartestbruh @AloneS @TheSmartOne @Teddyiswatshecallsme

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

Genuinely curious

Nnesha (nnesha):

what is TOU do you mean TAC ??

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

In a particular case, the person with the reputation got punished whilst the person who did it less often did not

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

Sure @Nnesha

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

@Zale101 @agent0smith @Agent47 @Anaise @AnonymousHD @ace-n-it @AnitaS.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

@King.Void. @KendrickLamar2014 @kropot72

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

shad i dont speak lawyer bb

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

A murderer on a kill spree gets punished, someone who stabs two guys to death doesnt get punished.

OpenStudy (smartestbruh):

I claim the plaintiff innocent *smashes hammer* CASE CLOSED :D

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

PUGS AND DWUGS WILL SOLVE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS SO WHY ARE YOU TAGGING ME

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

(._.)

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

but no i think everyone should be treated fairly although if someone is constantly told not to do something their punishment should be different than someone doing it for the first time

Nnesha (nnesha):

rules should be the same for all users including ambi and mods. But i think it is pretty obvious thing in this world that one who do the same thing again and again gets punished more often than the one who do less (but still same punishment for him)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Interesting post. I'm guessing this is because your main got suspended? xD

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

BECCA! Where have you been young lady?

OpenStudy (mahoganie.carson):

Well i understand what your saying i kind of agree with you @Nnesha ^_^

OpenStudy (smartestbruh):

My goodness off the post I claimed the dude innocent happy? -_-

OpenStudy (zale101):

This is how i see it. There's a difference between individuals who are new to openstudy and engages in such violations and individuals who've been on OS for several years but continues to violate the rules.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

The level of punishment doesn't matter, it's the surface I care about. A person should get punished for breaking the rules, depending on the severity, their punishment can be worse than the other, but both should still be punished

OpenStudy (smartestbruh):

Yes I strongly agree with @ShadowLegendX.

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

I must give my master Becca medal :)

OpenStudy (zale101):

A new user probably doesn't know that saying inappropriate words is violating the rules whereas a person who has been here for a good amount of time is very experienced and knows very well that it is violated to speak in such manners.

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

i think a first time offender should get a warning

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

they are new and learning but if they continue to break the rules thats a different story

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

It wasn't a first time offender, that's why in my example, I said they killed two guys, showing that it had been done more than once

OpenStudy (zale101):

Everyone gets a warning equally and a suspension after the warning if they engage in such acts. No exceptions here.

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

MEKEY FOR PRESIDENT!!!!

OpenStudy (darthvader2900):

^

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

MEKEY FOR AMBI!!!1

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

Exceptions seemed to be present, seeing how you're defending the user who obviously isn't new, creating a veil as if they're "new" and "don't know the rules" to justify your act

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

MEKEY FOR ALL TIME MASTER SENPAI!!!

OpenStudy (smartestbruh):

Be quiet and stop the riot. SHEESH This turned into absolute spam >.>

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

Nah just supporting my senpai <3

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

I iz just a kohai ;-;

OpenStudy (zale101):

But again, if someone keeps violating the rules their amount of suspension time is more likely to get extended than those who are new to OS.

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

True

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

But you never know weather or not it's an alternate account.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

I'm not trying to say the user who did the action more often shouldn't have been suspended or that the the severity of his punishment wasn't valid.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

My focus is on the other person

OpenStudy (zale101):

No one should have the same suspension treatment when everyone behavior is different.

OpenStudy (zale101):

I apologize for misunderstanding your question.

OpenStudy (zale101):

What is the thesis here?

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

Yea but this could be seen either way.

OpenStudy (zale101):

I have to go now. I'll come to this post again when i log on.

OpenStudy (anonymoushd):

Bye :/

OpenStudy (kendricklamar2014):

"A murderer on a kill spree gets punished, someone who stabs two guys to death doesn't get punished." Both should get punished for there actions. They both committed a crime and broke law(s). One should have a more severe punishment than the other since once went on a killing spree and the other killed only 2 people. (Metaphorically speaking) I agree that people who commonly spam and break the rules on this site dont get punished. I myself have witnessed this about 1-2 months ago. A user broke the rules and was not punished because he had a bad reputation and "he has changed" since then. I dont see how that helps to avoid a punishment. That is my thought @ShadowLegendX.

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

Meh, today was a singularity, I don't spam anymore(randomly) but at occasions I do so with purpose. Today is an example of such

OpenStudy (shadowlegendx.):

senpai

Genocide the opposition. IP ban first time offenders, provide pardons to valuable users or who have shown loyalty but had a lapse of judgement. I run a site with quite heavy return traffic (Alexa rank 1,000 through 2,000 range), and generally this is the way we go I have found. It does not discriminate against anyone. If people want to gain access to the site again there is an appeal process they can e-mail to. It was way better than bans that latest hours to days, those only seemed to escalate into anger, and cost the loss of valuable users. An anonymous posting system is better than a identity based one but that is not the point of this thread so I will refrain from going into it.
