As we crossed the docks

Take me to the starry nights
My head on your shoulder,
Where everything felt right.

Take me back to that summer
Together forever, we said
Only it turned out to be a bummer

Take me back to those life changing talks
When you played with my hair
Stroking the long locks

Take me back to the days spent baking in the heat
Burnt skin and harsh tan lines
Still, with you I felt complete

Take me to our long rendezvous
No AC and sweating
Staring forever, straight at you

I wish I could go back
Back before it all got bad
Before I had to pack

Back before you said you'd call
Before we kissed goodbye like maniacs

Back before you watched my car pull away
Before you made my heart crack
