OpenStudy (gudetamas):

how do i find the exact circumference of a circle with a diameter of 5 inches.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

circumference = pi*(diameter) where pi = 3.14 approximately

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

since they want the exact circumference, you would leave the answer in terms of pi example: diameter = 10 circumference = 10*pi this isn't the answer as it's just an example

OpenStudy (gudetamas):

ok so 5*pi ?

OpenStudy (gudetamas):

so the answer would be around 15.7?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the answer they want is `5pi` since they want an exact answer

OpenStudy (gudetamas):

ohh ok i see now thanks!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no problem
