Not looking for answers, looking for help. Answer the following questions in complete sentences. Be sure to include at least two specific details from the lesson to support your response. Which type of change—political, social, or economic—had the most impact on Southern life? Which type of change—political, social, or economic—faced the most challenges? Why were Southerners against this type of change?

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

I'm guessing you are writing about the South after the Civil War. My guess would outlawing slavery, citizenship and the vote for black people. The political change is that a large group of people now can vote, who didn't before. And they will probably vote Republican because the Deomcrats were the party of slavery. Economiclly, slave owners had to become employers. No more free labor. Socially, there was this expectation the black people were now equal to white people. That one would have been hardest to deal with. And that's why it has taken so long for us to get close to treating each other with respect. The second part I'll leave to you. But think about how you would react to such big changes. You may have had changes in your life. Maybe, dramatic changes. This was a change in the basic way things worked. And it happened to everyone in society. How might you react?
