http://prntscr.com/b0ohg7 I know area of circle is 3.14(r^2) I have the radius of both circles 7.6 and 2.2 and plugged them into the formula and subtracted them But I keep getting the wrong answer?
you need to find the area of the whole circle and the area of the middle circle then subtract the area of the whole thing by the area if the middle circle and you have your answer
what do you get for the radius of the hot tub and radius of tub+ deck?
That's what I did
I stated above : )
oh 7.6 and 2.2 is not correct
Ah, I see. What did I do wrong?
radius = 1/2 diameter and diameter of the tub is 5.4 diameter of whole thing = 5.4 + 2(2.2)
what is 5.4 / 2?
2.7
right thats the radius of the hot tub daimeter of whole thing is 9.8 so what radius?
I'm a bit confused. Why is it 2(2.2) and why are we dividing 5.4 by 2 and where did 9.8 come from?
5.4 is the diameter of the hot tub and the radius is 1/2 the diameter.
Understood so far

Ah, that makes sense now.
diameter of the whole thing is 5.4 + 2.2 + 2.2
Alright continue!
well what does that sum come to?
9.8 correct?
yes so radius of whole thing = half of this 4.9 so now you have the 2 radii 4.9 and 2.7 use these in the area formulae
Thank you!
One second, where did you get 2.7 from? @welshfella
@zepdrix Mind telling me where he/she got 2.7 from and helping me with some others?
5.4/2=2.7
I meant to put 4.9 haha.
@peachpi Where did that come from?
