Other than total number of people, how else did Virginia’s population change in the last half of the 1600s? More young men owned their own property than in earlier years. Large numbers of German immigrants joined the mostly English population. Women and children made up a larger percentage of the population than before. Prosperous farmers made up a larger percentage of the population than poor farmers
If you look at the passenger lists arriving at Jamestown in the beginning of that colony, you will see only men. They were looking to get rich and the return to England. But as time went on people started figuring out that you could live in Virginia and have a family there. So more than just men started coming.
@wwhitlock so is the answer A?
The percentage of young men owning property was probably about the same. But you need more than a man to make a family.
Women and children are needed for a civilized place.
