1. Samantha simplified the following expression. a. IDENTIFY the mistake Samantha made and explain what she should have done. b. SIMPLIFY the expression correctly. (5x2 – 2x – 4) – (3x2 – 6x – 1) 5x2 – 2x – 4 – 3x2 – 6x – 1 2x2 – 8x – 5

OpenStudy (narissa):

She didn't pay attention to the minus sign between the brackets?

OpenStudy (narissa):

5x^2-3x^2+6x-2x+1-4 5x^2-3x^2+4x+1-4 2x^2+4x+1-4 2x^2+4x-3

OpenStudy (narissa):

@Vocaloid Am I correct?

OpenStudy (narissa):

@wwhitlock

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

I got 2 x^2+4 x-3 so yes looks correct. Hint. I'm not that good at math. I use WolframAlpha.com to help me figure stuff out. I copied the expression and pasted into wolfram. It figures it out and helps explain. It's great for checking answers.

OpenStudy (narissa):

Oh okay thank you :)
