Which is a factor of z3 - z2 - 9z + 9? A) (z - 1) B) (z + 1) C) (z - 9) D) (z + 9)

OpenStudy (kalijah13):

@ganeshie8

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

use the factor theorem if (z - 1) then z = 1 is a zero so substitute z = 1 and see if f(1) = 0 if it does then (z - 1) is a factor

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

if not, just repeat the process

OpenStudy (anonymous):

z^3 -z^2 -9z +9 = z^2 *z -z^2 -9z +9 = in case of first two terms what can you factorizing out and so in case of 3rd and 4th terms ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

z^2*(z-1) -9(z-1) = (z-1)(z^2 -9) = (z-1)(z-3)(z+3)
