I'm taking the infamous AP U.S. History next year and I have a couple questions for those of you who have gone through it. - Did you have to pay to take the finals? How much? - What separates it *content-wise* from an Honors Class? - Did your class have a civics-based unit? - Any pointers? - Should I just take Honors or is it not actually that bad?
I'm taking that too
next year
Well good luck to you, my friend! I love history and I'm looking forward to it but I have my doubts lol
Personally; I had to pay for it. It was $50. I wasn't on free and reduced lunch though. If I was, it would have been low (It was either free or like $5) Basically, the AP class separated at my school two ways: Taking notes pretty much every minute until class ends, and the quiz/homework volume was high. I don't think it had civics. Take every note you can like a college student. By that I mean, because there is so much you won't have time to write it all, so write what you think you need most. If you like History, it's not bad. I'm definitely not a history fan and I made a B range grade. This is all off 2008 memories, so it's pretty much accurate for the most part.
Thanks for sharing! I think I have an advantage because I'll be taking it online so there will be more time for note-taking and such. It seems like quite a time commitment but that probably wont be an issue. My biggest concern is that many people are telling me to not take it and to take Honors instead. They aren't giving much of a reason why though... I guess I'll have a lot of work either way so I'm pretty set on taking AP.
