Find the surface area and volume of this cylinder? Medal!

OpenStudy (theyankee):

Radius=5, height =3 Find the volume and surface area. SHOW YOUR WORK please. I'd like to see how you do it.

OpenStudy (theyankee):

I know the formula, but when I tried plugging it in, I got it wrong somehow.

Nnesha (nnesha):

|dw:1462582927618:dw| 2 circle and a rectangle \[\huge\rm SA=2pir^2 +2 \pi rh\]

Nnesha (nnesha):

\[\huge\rm SA=2 \pi r^2 +2 \pi rh\]

Nnesha (nnesha):

show your work. i will try to find out the mistake

Nnesha (nnesha):

r= radius and height = h

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

nothing can help you

OpenStudy (sunnnystrong):

If we were to unfold this cylinder, we would have a rectangle and two circles. The length x width of the rectangle is really the circumference of the circle x the height of the cylinder. - expressed by 2pi(rh) Too find the area of the two circles you will use 2pi(^2). We are given a radius of 5 and a height of 3. Let's solve for the first portion of the equation 2pi(rh) where h=5 and r=3. We compute and solve for 94.25. The next portion we will solve for the two circles 2pi(r^2) where r =3 . We compute and solve for 56.55. Now we add these components together for the total surface area of our cylinder and we get 150.8

@Nnesha I'll post my work tomorrow morning. Got home from town late. Sorry!

Figured it out! Thanks!
