OpenStudy (august899):

The area of circle A is 9 times greater than the area of circle B. If the radius of circle B is 4 meters, what is the radius of circle A? (Multiple Choice)

OpenStudy (august899):

A. 9 meters B. 12 meters C. 24 meters D. 36 meters

OpenStudy (sunnnystrong):

The area of a circle is expressed by a=(pi)(r^2). Solving for the area of circle b using the formula above it is 59.26. We know that the area of circle a is 9 times greater than circle b. We must now solve for the area of circle a and find the radius. The area of circle a is 533.34. R= sq. root of a/pi.. Solving for the radius it is approximately 13. This is not the exact answer. The closest answer is 12. The answer is B.
