Sorry, but clicking on your link does not produce a math illustration. Try again, or draw your illustration using the Draw utility, below.

It's either A or C

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Check your work. Add the first 2 numbers together and show your partial sum. Then add the third number to this partial sum.

OpenStudy (riff-raff):

131.359 is the answer. But that's not an option. That's why I though it'd be A because the .0

OpenStudy (mathmale):

All of the numbers you're adding are accurate to 4 decimal places, so your final sum should also be that accurate.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I don't understand what you're trying to say by "because the .0 " You could get a rough estimate of the correct sum by doing this: round off all three numbers. 4.7012 would become 5; 25.9533 would become 26; and 100.7045 would become 101. Please add together 5, 26 and 101. Your result?

OpenStudy (riff-raff):

5.26+101 = 106.26

OpenStudy (mathmale):

"131.359 is the answer. But that's not an option. " I disagree. All 3 numbers are accurate to 4 decimal places, but you have written your sum to only 3 decimal places. Why?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

"5.26+101 = 106.26" ?? You are to add 5, 26 and 101: 5 26 +101 ------ ??

OpenStudy (riff-raff):

132

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Yes. Now, which of the four answer choices is closest to 132?

OpenStudy (riff-raff):

C

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Right. Nice work!

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Review: Check your answer by rounding off the original addends and summing them up. If all four of the original addends are accurate to 4 decimal places, then your final sum should also be that accurate.

OpenStudy (riff-raff):

Thank you

OpenStudy (mathmale):

My great pleasure, and thank you for the medal.
