Identify the type of metamorphic rock that can be formed when each of the following is exposed to heat or pressure: Limestone: Sandstone: Shale: Granite:

OpenStudy (0697169):

this is totally math :D

OpenStudy (polynomnomnomial):

Well, for limestone we can set up the equation limestone+heat/pressure=metamorphic rock. Now, we need to find the of type(s) of metamorphic rock that forms, and we get travertine or marble.

OpenStudy (polynomnomnomial):

We can then substitute limestone with any other of the rocks in the equation. Shale+heat/pressure=slate Sandstone+heat/pressure=quartzite Granite+heat/pressure=gneiss

OpenStudy (polynomnomnomial):

And that's how you make it into math. :)
