You have several choices here: factoring, factoring by grouping, quadratic formula, graphing, completing the square, and more. Do any of these sound familiar to you?

5z^2 +7z+2 has 3 coefficients. Take the first and the last and multiply them together. What do you get? Next, try to identify all factors, both + and - , of that product.

the only factors of 5 are 1 and 5 so you know it MUST be (5z + ?) (z+ ?) the only factors of 2 are 1 and 2 so the two constant terms MUST be 1 and 2 so just work out which way round they go so that the z term adds up to 7z
