i cant find the answer and the answer i got wasnt close to any of the others

sam (.sam.):

What is the half of 8?

OpenStudy (josephinevessey):

4

sam (.sam.):

and when you multiply negative numbers what do you get?

OpenStudy (josephinevessey):

i dont know negatives are confusing

OpenStudy (jadedry):

A few key rules to remember: \[x * y = xy\] \[-x * y = -xy\] \[-x * -y = xy\] You just have to memorize this. When you multiply 2 negative numbers, you have a positive number.

sam (.sam.):

(+)(+)=(+) (+)(-)=(-) (-)(+)=(-) (-)(-)=(+)

OpenStudy (weirdness):

ok, so multiplying two negative numbers gives you a positive. So you know that the product is positive. Multiply a number by 1/2 is essentially (8*1)/2. This simplifies to 8/2. Now this is a simple division problem where 8/2=4

OpenStudy (supersmart1001):
