I am in quiz bowl and sometimes questions appear asking what is the most common element in the Earth's Crust. Here is some of the notes I took to practice for questions like these: "Oxygen (O, 8) is, by mass, the most common ELEMENT in Earth’s crust. It was discovered independently by Carl Scheele and Joseph Priestley; Priestley originally called it “dephlogisticated air." "Aluminum (Al, 13) is the most common METAL in Earth’s crust, and the first metal in the p block of elements." In other words you are correct in stating that Oxygen is the most common element in the Earth's Crust. I have no notes on Silicon but I do remember from Environmental Science that Aluminum is the most common metal from the Earth's Crust however it still carries the smallest amount of mass compared to Oxygen and Silicon. I think you are correct in your answer.
Thank you!! @Scooby6363
