OpenStudy (yumyum247):

finding the equation of a polynomial function from table of values....

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

so is it true that my function will start from y = 12x^3???? because my third difference is constant with a leading coefficient of 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm hmmm hmmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this ... finances or ...hmmm some specific math because math wise, I'd just do a regression to get it =)

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

precalculus

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

they are asking for the function in standard form... y = ax +bx + c form

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

squared

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right... a regression would get the equation, cubic or trig or quadraic or quartic

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

ok i didn't know that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

quadratic even =)

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

though, hmm got a TI calculator? I mean, it'd a iterative process, so many scientific calculators have such feature

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

no sowee i don't own a ti calculator

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

but am i on the right track tho??

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

i think so...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm dunno, never did that myself :)

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

LOL

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

yeah i need someone who could show me the proper steps to this... cuz am typign my retricenment and i want ful marks for my work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://polynomialregression.drque.net/online.php <---- enter your "x" and "y" values columns separated by [tab] and rows with [enter] so 3 [tab] 5 [enter] 4 [tab] 56 [enter] ..... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you happen to have an Android phone or tablet? btw

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

no my mom took my phone 2 days ago... long story..aawnnX(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm ok.... well aehmm heheh there's an android app, "andie graph", that runs a TI emulator, and you can get the roms online, thus you'd have 1 or even 4 TI calculators :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the TI's do have a regression feature :) hehe, among many other things

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

ok...so what do i do now...i can't even plugin my table of values in that thing you sent me... wait let me try again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

notice the "column separator" is set to \t, meaning a tab, you can change it to whatever else though and also notice the "row separator", it's set to \n, meaning [enter] or newline, but you can set it to whatever, though \n is fine then enter your values

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also notice the pulldow list below, pick the proper regression, so, use Cubic in this case, since you suspect is a cubic one

OpenStudy (yumyum247):

so if my table of values is...wait let me draw
