@Aveline lets pick up where we left off

OpenStudy (aveline):

Ok :)

OpenStudy (helpkay):

you said Why is a woman unclean for two weeks if she has a daughter as opposed to one week if she has a son? https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Leviticus+15&version=KJV

OpenStudy (aveline):

Right

OpenStudy (helpkay):

I do not see what you are talking about I only see a week

OpenStudy (aveline):

You probably don't see what I'm talking about because that's the wrong section o3o" Look in Leviticus 12.

OpenStudy (aveline):

Sorry about that. I must have copied the wrong section earlier. Have a good night!

OpenStudy (helpkay):

Ok I will be honest I had never studied this but here is what i found There is logical reason for this Here are some reasons why and most make sense of why it was done 1 It was not a law it was more of a custom to the land 2 girls was considered holier then a boy 3 A boy was the one who work rather then a girl 4 it was to give a woman time to rest 5 when a woman had a boy the dad would be glad if it was a girl they would want anther child until they got a boy 6 it was to protect the girl 7 both the girl and the mother bleed so it would be double unclean with I don't know if it is true 8 a boy was boy was circumcised on the eighth day 9 it might be because a boy and girl have different body part with i wish not to study 10 some say that the hormones and other stuff are different with i don't think is true but i don't know They where more but I forgot them So this is to give the mother rest and to let her end her bleeding and because a girl is different from a boy

OpenStudy (jumperman):

@helpkay That's a very good case. I really liked how you brought up the circumcision of the male on the eighth day.

OpenStudy (aveline):

@helpkay Could I have sources for your statements 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9?

OpenStudy (aveline):

@helpkay

OpenStudy (helpkay):

Here are some of the website i looked at http://judaism.stackexchange.com/questions/7528/why-are-women-unclean-longer-after-giving-birth-to-a-girl https://rarebible.wordpress.com/2010/02/08/women-defiled-by-childbirth-baby- girls-twice-as-dirty-as-baby-boys/ https://savannaclaudia.wordpress.com/2014/09/14/why-are-women-considered-unclean-after-childbirth-in-leviticus/ Like I said I don't know if I believe and probably don't believe everything Also I don't remember every site I went on

OpenStudy (aveline):

No primary sources?

OpenStudy (helpkay):

No I don't have any primary sources on the web I do have the Bible as a primary source If you look this custom was still kept in the new testament If you look in Luke 2:21-30 If you look at 27 it was a custom law

OpenStudy (aveline):

Those verses don't have anything to do with your claims 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9. In fact, the verses you stated disproved your statement, "It was not a law it was more of a custom to the land" In Luke 2:22, the law of Moses, "תורת משה" is referred to. In Luke 2:27, it is referred to as "משפט התורה", which means the "Torah law." This shows that it was not a custom - it was a law.

OpenStudy (helpkay):

It was a custom law A boy doesn't have to be circumcise it was just the Jewish law/custom Also do you know what circumcising is Most girl don't get circumcised Luke 2:27 Yes it is referring to Mosses but that why is says what the (custom) of the Law required A custom law is just a law that been pasted down from generation to generations If a boy was unclean for 2 week he could not be circumcised at 8 days This was not a law for everyone only the Jews The Jew required different things to be done that did not apply to other because they are Gods chosen people so in a way it was a law and a way it was not It was to say that they where clean of the blood and have gave back to God for the child he gave them so I think it had more to do with gender then the woman herself boys and girls are different in many different way I think that is why a girl is longer then a boy

OpenStudy (aveline):

It was a law dictated by Moses, not just a custom. I know what circumcision is. It is not done on girls because it is harmful and unnecessary. The real question is why are women unclean for longer than men?

OpenStudy (helpkay):

It was a law then I think it became a custom why else would the the would custom be in there. Could I please have the verse?

OpenStudy (aveline):

The word custom is not in there. Read the Hebrew.

OpenStudy (helpkay):

I can't read Hebrew and what does that have to do with anything it was the law of Moses because God gave him the law just like the 10 commandment

OpenStudy (aveline):

Well earlier you said: "It was not a law it was more of a custom to the land" But now you are saying that it was a law. Could you answer my previous question: Why are women unclean for longer than men?

OpenStudy (helpkay):

It like this in the Middle east you don't have to wear a head covering it is just a custom law that you do this is what I am talking about it is a law to them but not to other people btw could you please give me the passage for Why are women unclean for longer than men.

OpenStudy (aveline):

"2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean. 3 And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. 4 And she shall then continue in the blood of her purifying three and thirty days; she shall touch no hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying be fulfilled. 5 But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days." Also, wearing a head covering is a law in many areas of the Middle East, not just a custom. For example, in Saudi Arabia and Iran.

OpenStudy (helpkay):

I still don't see it sorry could you put () around it also I know someone who is in the middle east who said you are not required to where a head covering you are just not aloud to do anything with out it in certain places it is not required but a woman should not be seen without her husband

OpenStudy (aveline):

"If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean." "But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days." Of course head coverings are not mandatory in every part of the Middle East. However, they are in some areas.

OpenStudy (helpkay):

This is not talking about man and woman it is referring to a boy or girl like with the last one A man is a boy so it's saying if she has a boy and a maid is a girl so it's saying if she has a girl It is still referring to the birth of a child not man or woman "If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man But if she bear(give birth to) a maid child It like I could say that is a young lady or i could say that is a teenager I just used a different word to say the same thing

OpenStudy (aveline):

Right, but that doesn't answer my question

OpenStudy (helpkay):

I don't get how it doesn't answer your question you said Why are women unclean for longer than men? I thought you where talking about a man or a woman at first but the passage you gave me is talking about the birth of a boy or a girl It is the same thing as Leviticus 12 The boy is 1 week the girl is 2 Also this backs up Leviticus 12 it is saying that boys and girl are different because it says man and maid Notice it doesn't say woman it says maid so it is also referring to the work of a girl So the girl/boy does have to do with how long a woman is unclean if she has a boy or a girl

OpenStudy (aveline):

But why? Why is it that a woman is unclean for an extra week if they give birth to a female child?

OpenStudy (helpkay):

there is no real answer it like in math pi goes on forever you will be going in circle trying to find it all at Try looking it up your self and see what you can find Like I said I think it is because of the gender If a woman had a boy it was like a blessing A boy is the one who help with the income of the home All a girl did was work at home or was a maid to someone so a boy was more respected then a girl even today people rather have a boy then a girl because a boys can do more then a girl just search do people rather have a boy or a girl it might be Because of the circumcision sense a girl didn't get circumcised might be why a woman would be 2 week if she had a girl I know that some places people only want a boy because a boy can do work "While historically, there have been about 105 boys born for every 100 girls worldwide — which creates a “sex ratio at birth” of 1.05 — the share of boy babies has increased in recent decades. 2011 data from the World Bank show the global sex ratio at birth is now 1.07, or 107 boys born for every 100 girl" http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2013/09/24/the-odds-that-you-will-give-birth-to-a-boy-or-girl-depend-on-where-in-the-world-you-live/ "Worldwide, there are 107 boy babies born for every 100 girl babies. This skewed ratio is partly due to sex-selective abortion and "gendercide," the killing of female infants, in countries such as China and India where males are more desired." http://www.livescience.com/33491-male-female-sex-ratio.html It might be to protect the girl It might be because of hormones and other stuff although people say the hormones are the same in both giving birth to a boy or a girl So who knows I don't think you will ever find a defendant answer for this question

OpenStudy (aveline):

Male and female ratios have nothing to do with this...

OpenStudy (helpkay):

I know I just saying in some places people rather have a boy then a girl with might be why a woman would be unclean longer if she had a girl

OpenStudy (aveline):

That has nothing to do with uncleanliness

OpenStudy (aveline):

Do you understand the question?

OpenStudy (helpkay):

Yes you said Why are women unclean for longer than men? I said it is talking about a boy or girl like in the last question and to look for yourself to see what you can find I was referring this to when I found that some people say it was because if the woman had a girl the father would want anther kid until he got a boy

OpenStudy (aveline):

Even if the father wanted another child that was a boy, why was the mother banned from church for 66 days?

OpenStudy (aveline):

Having a male child is just as physically exhausting as having a female child.

OpenStudy (helpkay):

because they say if it was a girl child the father would want to have sex right away every time until he got a boy If he got a boy he wouldn't have sex with the woman for a while so the say by having to be unclean for 2 week would give the woman time to rest before having sex again I know it sound weird to be called unclean just to give them time to rest it sounds weird to me to but it would make sense in a way

OpenStudy (aveline):

Soucre? Why couldn't women go to church for 33 more days?

OpenStudy (aveline):

*Source

OpenStudy (helpkay):

IDK but could we agree on one thing one reason why the woman was unclean was because of here blood cycle

OpenStudy (aveline):

Which verse are you referring to?

OpenStudy (helpkay):

Leviticus 12:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean. I don't use the niv but if you look it says 12 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Say to the Israelites: ‘A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. 3 On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. 4 Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. 5 If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding.

OpenStudy (helpkay):

so maybe if you have a girl you bleed more then having a boy IDK also maybe after giving birth you bleed for a month rather then a week

OpenStudy (helpkay):

I never gave birth so i wouldn't know LOL

OpenStudy (helpkay):

also in one of the site I gave you it said that when giving birth to a girl both mother and child bleed you can see for yourself by looking at does a baby girl bleed after birth so like I said I believe it has to do with the gender

OpenStudy (aveline):

"so maybe if you have a girl you bleed more then having a boy IDK also maybe after giving birth you bleed for a month rather then a week " No, no, no. There is not difference between having a boy or a girl. Do you understand Leviticus 12:4? I don't think you are understanding what it means; it has nothing to do with bleeding? "also in one of the site I gave you it said that when giving birth to a girl both mother and child bleed" Male children bleed no more than females.

OpenStudy (aveline):

@helpkay?

OpenStudy (helpkay):

yeah

OpenStudy (aveline):

Just saw that you never responded.

OpenStudy (helpkay):

what's the point your never going to agree with me lolz

OpenStudy (aveline):

The point is not to persuade the other person to agree with you; it is to challenge others ideas as well as your own. I am wondering why you would even ask me this question in the first place if you previously said that nothing in the Old Testament applies anymore.

OpenStudy (helpkay):

I didn't you ask the question

OpenStudy (helpkay):

I was replying to you

OpenStudy (aveline):

You must have picked that question specifically since I asked so many other questions. It seems that you were interested in this topic...?

OpenStudy (helpkay):

no look at the top the first comment

OpenStudy (helpkay):

this was from the responding to helpkay which I can't find on here anymore

OpenStudy (helpkay):

see this was the next thing on the list

OpenStudy (aveline):

That was my second question. The first one was "Do you think it is okay that God let his followers take women as spoils of war?"

OpenStudy (helpkay):

I already answered that

OpenStudy (aveline):

Where?

OpenStudy (helpkay):

I can't find that one to but remember I said it was not God it was man because there made a promise that they wouldn't let (I forget the name ) marry there daughters
