OpenStudy (benlindquist):

What is the radius of a cone if its height is 9 inches and its volume is 150.72 cubic inches? (Use 3.14 for π.)

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

Simply divide 150.72 by 9 to find the radius, witch would be 16.74666666666667, to double check just invers the problem.

OpenStudy (shaadykhamlichi):

nope wrong

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

Really then cause if you inverse and do 16.74666666666667 x 9 you would still get 150.72 mate.

OpenStudy (shaadykhamlichi):

yes but do you know whats a volume of a cone??

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

Yes, the the total area or size of the shape.

OpenStudy (shaadykhamlichi):

whats the formula

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

Mate, I know math I take collage math classes and I'm only in the 10th grade.

OpenStudy (shaadykhamlichi):

haha me too brother

OpenStudy (shaadykhamlichi):

what's the formula?

OpenStudy (shaadykhamlichi):

i guess you don't know it??

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

The formula would be !50.72 (your volume) divided by 9 (the hieght) to get 16.74666666666667 (the diameter) then divide by 3.14 to get the radius 5.333333333333334.

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

Sorry I had to type it and dpo all the math again.

OpenStudy (shaadykhamlichi):

ok the for mula is \[V=\pi r^2h\]

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

Yes that is pretty much what I did exept I filled in the numbers to be more exact

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

Yes that is pretty much what I did exept I filled in the numbers to be more exact

OpenStudy (shaadykhamlichi):

so you're technically not done yet

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

No, the formula is done the radius is 5.333333333333334

OpenStudy (shaadykhamlichi):

you forgot to square root it

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

Ahh, man this is liek middle school stuff so... its easy to forget!

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

*Like

OpenStudy (shaadykhamlichi):

So am I right??

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

Technically shaadykhamlichi we are both right I still anwsered questiona dn you reminded me to find the square root.

OpenStudy (shaadykhamlichi):

lol

OpenStudy (shaadykhamlichi):

ok

OpenStudy (rileyhansen):

What!

OpenStudy (benlindquist):
