Help please! I have no idea what to do or where to start

Check your text and notes and see what it means for a number to be a _root_ of an equation. Knowing that is probably the key to this problem.

OpenStudy (erak):

It's called a root when y = 0. So on a graph, it's where it crosses the x-axis. If you substitute x = -4 into the equation, do you get y = 0? If yes, it's a root, if no, it's not.
