OpenStudy (kikuo):

@jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

What is the area of the whole circle?

OpenStudy (shelbywyatt):

something eww

OpenStudy (shelbywyatt):

81pi

OpenStudy (kikuo):

360

OpenStudy (kikuo):

I mean

OpenStudy (kikuo):

Yeah, 81pi. 9x9

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Area of full circle = 81 pi Central Angle = 45 degrees (180 - 35 = 45) \[\Large \text{Area of Sector} = \frac{\text{Central Angle}}{360}*(\text{Area of Full Circle})\] \[\Large \text{Area of Sector} = \frac{{\color{red}{\text{Central Angle}}}}{360}*({\color{blue}{\text{Area of Full Circle}}})\] \[\Large \text{Area of Sector} = \frac{{\color{red}{45}}}{360}*({\color{blue}{81\pi}})\] I'll let you finish

OpenStudy (shelbywyatt):

(180 - 35 = 45) how can you explain please

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

|dw:1463124227108:dw|

OpenStudy (shelbywyatt):

oh ok

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

oops typo, I didn't realize I wrote `(180 - 35 = 45)` when it should have been `(180 - 135 = 45)`

OpenStudy (shelbywyatt):

oh ok, first i thought it was something i didnt learn yet

OpenStudy (kikuo):

I understand so far

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what is 45/360 equal to @Kikuo ?

OpenStudy (shelbywyatt):

45/360= 9/72?

OpenStudy (kikuo):

.125

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

multiply `0.125` with `81` to get what?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

whatever that result is, just tack on pi

OpenStudy (shelbywyatt):

how you highlight?

OpenStudy (kikuo):

Why are we multiplying by 85?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

see the link http://prntscr.com/b3h18w

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

81 not 85 the full circle has 81pi as the full area

OpenStudy (shelbywyatt):

'thanks'

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're using the wrong tick mark

OpenStudy (shelbywyatt):

`oh yeah`

OpenStudy (kikuo):

Why aren't we taking .125 away from 81?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

because we're taking a fraction of the full circle example: if we spit the circle into 3 equal pieces, and we want the area of one of the pieces then area of one slice = (1/3)*(area of full circle) area of one slice = (1/3)*(81pi) area of one slice = 27pi

OpenStudy (kikuo):

Aw that makes sense. So, 10.125

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yep the area of that slice is \(\Large 10.125\pi\)

OpenStudy (kikuo):

Alright! Moving on.
