Give an explanation why.

OpenStudy (smartnerd1111):

OK so three x's equal what?

OpenStudy (smartnerd1111):

Three x's equal 3x and 5+5=10 so 3x+10 is which answer

OpenStudy (aklein18):

Try seeing the problem like this: 1x + 1x + 1x + 5 + 5. Add your liked numbers so 5 + 5 = 10 and 1x + 1x + 1x = 3x. So 3x + 10. No matter what x is (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) It will = what ever 3 times adds up to. Think of the 2 fives. 5 + 5 = 10. 5 times 2 = 10. Really, in this problem, all you're doing is adding liked components.
