Help please ^-^ http://prntscr.com/b4jsto

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

what do you think?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

No clue. Kinda why I'm asking. xD

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

|dw:1463371033124:dw|

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

L=2+w because length is 2 more than the width

MsBrains (ms-brains):

So for a problem like this that's all I would need to write? L=2+W?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

No showing work or anything like that..?

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

no thats a piece of it

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Oh. So what next?

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

area = L*W so you have to multiply (W+2)*w

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

can you simplify that?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Simplify \[(W+2)*W\]? How would I do that?

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

\[w(w+2)\]is the same as \[w*w+w*2\]

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

so what is \[w*w\]

MsBrains (ms-brains):

\[w^2?\]

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

yep! now what is \[2*w\]

MsBrains (ms-brains):

2w? That does not look like it can be simplified

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

Yep!

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

so now add them \[w^2\]\[2w\]
