English 3 :Why do you think American writers of subsequent literary periods often choose to break from traditions and seek more freedom in their artistic expression? Are writers justified in challenging the artistic status quo? Why or why not?

OpenStudy (ingah):

American writers often break from literary tradition because, just like the world as a whole, people and authors grow and change. Many authors seek more freedom in their artistic expression because many writers who challenge these traditions have been or are currently being oppressed. I, personally, believe that writers are justified in challenging the status quo because they, too, are human and have ideas that don't fit into the box of traditions.
