RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

Can someone explain how mandatory and discretionary spending are similar and how they are different?

OpenStudy (xx_gamergirl_xx):

I know the difference, however I'm not sure how to explain it, but here are some websites that helped me when I was learning about these. http://www.chacha.com/question/explain-how-mandatory-and-discretionary-spending-are-similar-and-how-they-are-different http://www.answers.com/Q/How_does_discretionary_spending_differ_form_mandatory_spending

OpenStudy (xx_gamergirl_xx):

This one may help more however: http://www.davemanuel.com/investor-dictionary/discretionary-spending/

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

mandatory is mandatory (ie, you need to do it to survive like food water rent insurance etc) whereas discretionary is option (entertainment, buying clothing on top of what's necessary, etc)

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

Thank you both!

OpenStudy (xx_gamergirl_xx):

No problem, sorry I couldn't explain it myself, I'm not a great explainer of words.

RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):

Thank you so much tho!

OpenStudy (xx_gamergirl_xx):

If that makes any sense... lol
