OpenStudy (aaliyahhailey):

I need help with a chart! for the data in the table, does y vary directly with x? If it does write an equation for the direct variation. x - 40, 28, 16 y- 32, 16, 12

OpenStudy (stacey):

If there is a direct variation, then the constant is \[k=\frac{ y }{ x }\] Insert the pairs of numbers and see if you get the same constant each time.

OpenStudy (aaliyahhailey):

so i did 32 over 40, would it be 1.25? like would i see if all of them are the same?

OpenStudy (aaliyahhailey):

@Stacey

OpenStudy (stacey):

Yes, they would be the same.

OpenStudy (stacey):

32/40 = .8
